The easiest way to improve velocity is not to do things better, but to cut things that are too costly. They’re usually more obvious, more painful, and there’s a standard list of them for organizations that are transforming. The simple question “What can we cut” is direct and clear. It invites the audience to find things that make their job painfully slow or wasteful and blacklist those behaviours to immediately improve performance and morale.
