One of the big mistakes we can make in Agile adoption, and in leadership, is expecting to be too good too soon. Even with the right support and the right mindset/habit pairs, it will take time for benefits to accrue.
With your teams and customers, let them know there is a learning curve as the go from crawl to walk, to run. With your own leadership and general badass-ness…don’t let the pace of improvement convince you that there’s such a thing as being ‘born to lead’. All that’s required is the right mindsets and habits. Think continuous introspection and improvement, finding and fixing gaps as you go, and stick with those fundamentals until they’re perfect.
Always stay humble and centred on your service-based vision and you have the powerful recipe that the elite few know how to use to become great.
